Inclement Weather Days:
Students missed three (3) school days this week because of
inclement weather. According to the priority make-up
schedule, these days will be made up on February 20, 2017,
and two (2) banked days. Friday, February 17, 2017, will be
a full day for students and the 4th Six-weeks Marking Period
has been moved to Monday, February 20, 2017, with students
being dismissed at 1:00 p.m. and teacher workday in the

Superintendent for Operations, Mrs. Ann Cassada, Assistant
Superintendent for Support Services, Mr. Mike Hutson,
Director of Maintenance & Facilities, Mr. Kenyon Scott,
Director of Pupil Transportation, their staff, principals,
and school staff for the hard work each did over the weekend
and this week to ready the schools for students to return.

Middle Border Forward Presentation: Participants in the Middle Border Forward program
visited the STEM Academy on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Ms.
Deborah Powell, Principal of the Regional Alternative School
and STEM Academy, and STEM Academy teachers, Mrs. Jill
Collins, Mrs. Tommie Evans, and Mr. Jacob Taylor, shared
information about the programs offered at the STEM Academy
with this group of approximately 20 young professionals.
Also, the accomplishments of the school division were
highlighted and discussed.
School Board Policy GBO-PC, Retirement System, Remains
Unchanged: After consulting with attorneys and the chief officer
with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), it has been
determined that revisions to School Board Policy GBO-PC,
Retirement System, will not need to be made. Therefore, the
Early Retirement Incentive Program (ERIP) will remain as
written with no changes to the plan.
