Dr. Steve Staples, State Superintendent, said, “Today we recognize eight teachers in Virginia who exhibit integrity in their profession and inspire their students to high achievement. These educators are recognized as leaders in their field, setting examples academically and personally among their peers and within their classrooms.”

Please join me in recognizing Mr. Ince on this outstanding accomplishment and wishing him the very best as he vies for the title of State Teacher of the Year.

School Board:
At its meeting on Tuesday, September 13, 2016, the Pittsylvania County School Board gave approval to the administration to participate in the preliminary, non-binding interest study being conducted by the Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) on the feasibility of a local option health insurance plan. For this plan to be viable, a minimum enrollment of 5,000 employees and 10,000 members is required. Central Office staff will closely monitor the findings and progress made by DHRM as the study is being conducted and will apprise the School Board on its appropriateness for the school division.

Compensation Study:
The time to complete the Job Assessment Tool (JAT) has been extended to Friday, September 23, 2016. The online JAT provides employees an opportunity to describe the type of work done within their job title and to explain the scope and complexity of their position rather than simply relying on department designations and job titles. Instructions for completing the JAT were sent to employees via email. All staff members are encouraged to complete this survey instrument.
