Students from Pittsylvania County Schools competed in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Danville Area Regional Spelling Bee at Averett University’s Blount Chapel on March 16, 2024. Chatham, Dan River, Gretna, and Tunstall Middle Schools were represented and proved competitive by reaching the top six finalists in the competition (see group picture). In the end, Tunstall Middle School’s Dante Pauley is congratulated as the 2024 winner of Danville Area’s Regional Spelling Bee by coordinator Pat Daniel. Dante and his family will travel to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
