Employee of the Week
The Central Office staff are delighted to announce Mr. Steve Mayhew, Assistant Superintendent for Administration, as our selection for Employee of the Week.

Mr. Mayhew joined Pittsylvania County Schools in 2000 as a science teacher at his former alma mater, Dan River High School. He worked as an assistant principal for Danville Public Schools at Gibson Middle School. He then worked as an assistant principal and principal at Twin Springs Elementary School before returning to Dan River High School as principal in 2012.

He has served as Assistant Superintendent since 2018, and has made a huge impact on the office and staff in that short time. He brings a wealth of knowledge and boundless energy to his position as well as an eagerness to work with his staff to provide solutions for daily work issues that arise.

Mr. Mayhew has worked tirelessly during this school year to mitigate and respond to the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on our students, staff and parents. He is always willing to pitch in and help in any way possible and lends a compassionate ear of understanding to all.

Mr. Mayhew has been married to his wife Chrystal, a teacher at Dan River Middle School, for 20 years. They have one daughter, Hannah, who is a student at Dan River Middle School. Mr. Mayhew is an avid runner and a gifted guitarist and singer. He enjoys spending his free time with his family and their two Golden Retrievers, Molly and Bonnie.

Congratulations Mr. Mayhew on your selection as our Employee of the Week. We are so proud to have you as a member of our Central Office family and are thankful for all you do to make Pittsylvania County Schools a great place to work!
