Jessica Waller

Whether in life or in Support Services, one size does not always fit all.  No one understands that better than Special Education Coordinator, Jessica Waller.  Her duties are as varied and wide as the Commonwealth of Virginia itself.  In some cases, literally.

We all learn differently.  The goal of special education is to ensure that barriers to learning are addressed and removed for identified children.  Mrs. Waller handles many aspects of special education services by first overseeing the needs of the students of all schools in the Chatham district.  Additionally, she handles the Virginia Commonwealth University Autism grant for the entire district.

Jessica Waller looks after the educational needs for students inside and outside of Pittsylvania County.  She is currently the go-to person for all residential and out-of-district students.  And lastly,  Mrs. Waller is the supervisor of the STAR Program for the division serving as the lead staff member responsible for these services.

Pittsylvania County Schools (PCS) has been fortunate to have Mrs. Waller on board since 2014.  She received her BS degree in Communications and Public Relations from Radford University.  She holds a Master's Degree in Special Education from Liberty University as well as an endorsement in Administration and Supervision.

Mrs. Waller is a product of PCS and says "My heart is in Special Education.  I love what I do and the team I work with.  I'm thankful to work for the school system that I grew up in."

Jessica Waller has been married to Dan River High School teacher, Jacob Waller, for eight years.  They are the proud parents of Oakley and Laken.  Jessica isn't all work and no play.  When she isn't spending time with her family, she enjoys running as well as settling in with a good book.

The Support Services Department is delighted to spotlight such a dedicated and compassionate employee.  She works daily for the best interest of all children in her care, whether it be in the Chatham area or across the Commonwealth.
