Gretna High School is honored to recognize Ms. Carrie Francisco, a dedicated and passionate teacher, as Employee of the Week for Pittsylvania County Schools. Ms. Francisco enters her 20 th year of teaching with the past 17 years at Gretna High. During her tenure at GHS, she has taught Anatomy and Physiology, AP Biology, Advanced Biology, General Biology, Advanced Earth Science, General Earth Science, and Inclusion Earth Science classes. She also taught both summer school sessions this past summer.
Ms. Francisco has one daughter, Ava. Ms. Francisco is a traveling enthusiast; having visited Kazakhstan, England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Kyrgyzstan, Bermuda, Alaska, Hawaii, and Canada. She also enjoys nature and baking.
When asked about her passion for teaching she responded, “I enjoy helping students understand the natural world and learn through doing hands-on activities. It's fun to share knowledge, all of the prep work and planning is worth it when I experience students who " 'get it,' or understand.”
