Employee of the Week

The Transportation Department is pleased to recognize Mr. William K. "Bill" French, III as its employee of the week. Bill, who is completing 32 years with the department, began honing his mechanical abilities at an early age on his father's farm in Maryland.   He quickly adapted the skills that he learned repairing tractors and implements to working on cars and motorcycles.  The many years of hard work that he has spent refining his talents have rendered him not only a master mechanic, but an exceptionally talented body and paint man, too.  He is the Transportation Department's resident bodywork expert, and his repairs equal and exceed those of the best shops in the area.  His expertise in the field has saved the school division untold amounts of money over the years by making it possible to make repairs in-house rather than contracting them out to independent body shops.

Bill's attention to detail and his meticulous approach to the tasks that he performs are indicative not only of his craftsmanship, but also of his strong work ethic and the pride that he takes in his work.  Bill also freely shares his knowledge with others and is always willing to help when needed.  These are but a few of the characteristics that make him an extraordinary colleague and employee.

When at home, Bill enjoys working on street rods and riding his Harley-Davidson.  In addition to his daughter and six grandchildren, Bill's family includes his significant other, Cheryl, with whom he enjoys travelling and attending car shows.
