Employee of the Week
Stony Mill Elementary School (SMES) is pleased to announce that Mr. Don Haymore has been chosen as the “Employee of the Week.” Mr. Haymore has served as the bookkeeper at SMES for the past eight years.  He worked as the administrative assistant at Dan River High School for two years before transferring to SMES.  Mr. Haymore also taught history at Dan River High School for several years.  The majority of his career has been spent in the military where he served for 22 years.

Mr. Haymore is an excellent bookkeeper and has had four clean audits in the past six years.  He readily offers his vast knowledge and support to other bookkeepers whenever they have questions.  Mr. Haymore is dedicated to his job and the school.  He often volunteers to help when needs arise throughout the school.  He has helped with janitorial duties, car rider duty, traffic control, lunch room duty, and etc.  Before this school year began, he volunteered to move several loads of landscaping rock to bare areas around four of our mobile units.  This was an extensive job, but the results are beautiful.  Mr. Haymore says he loves working at SMES because of the family and community atmosphere.

Mr. Haymore is a native of Pittsylvania County and is a product of Pittsylvania County Schools.  He attended Brosville Elementary, Blairs Junior High and he graduated from Tunstall High School.  He currently resides in the Brosville area.  Mr. Haymore enjoys hosting foreign exchange students.  He has been a host to many students over the past 8 years.  He has hosted students from Germany, Italy, Chili, Brazil, Japan and the Netherlands.

During his free time, Mr. Haymore enjoys going to amusement parks, traveling and sightseeing, binge watching Netflix and playing with his dog, Munchie.

Congratulations to Mr. Haymore on his much deserved selection as Pittsylvania County Schools’ Employee of the Week.
