Employee of the Week
Gretna Elementary School (GES) is proud to announce Joan Yeatts as its Employee of the Week.  Mrs. Yeatts has been serving Pittsylvania County Schools (PCS) for 52 years. She currently serves as the Family Services Coordinator for the preschool program at GES.

Mrs. Yeatts enjoys leading the students in as many activities as are possible while following COVID Guidelines.  She also works with the parents sending them activities to help with their children’s learning.  Her desire is to help strengthen the families and the role of parents and family in a strong home.  Mrs. Yeatts is an extremely giving and sharing person and finds joy when the preschool teachers and students excel.

The theme at GES this year is “Sparkle and Shine.”  Mrs. Yeatts has been a shining example for many years in our schools.  She creates a sparkle everywhere she goes.

She began her education at the first Gretna Elementary School.  After completing her education, she returned to be a teacher at Gretna Junior High School, then moved to the Pittsylvania County School Board Office where she worked for several years. Upon full-time retirement, she returned to GES as part-time Family Services Coordinator for the Preschool Programs.  Part-time employment gives her more time for her precious children and grandchildren.

She is an active member of Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church and coordinates the Week-End Meal Program for Gretna students through grant writing and fundraising.

The GES Faculty and Staff are proud of all the accomplishments of Mrs. Yeatts and are happy to announce that she is our Employee of the Week.
