Employee of the Week - Cynthia Stephens
April 24-28, 2023

Dan River High School is honored to announce the selection of Mrs. Cynthia Stephens as our Employee of the Week.  Mrs. Stephens has been employed with Pittsylvania County Schools for 28 years, with the last 19 exclusively at Dan River High School as the guidance clerk.

Mrs. Stephens is passionate about student success; she spends the majority of her days helping students apply for colleges, scholarships, and obtaining transcripts.  She is a vital part of the guidance department and the school community at large.

Mrs.  Stephens is a 1975 graduate from Page High School in Greensboro, NC.  After high school, Mrs. Stephens worked in various capacities and finally found her niche in education.  Mrs.  Stephens has been married to Claude Stephens for 44 years. They have two children Nicole and Daniel, all alumni of Dan River High School.   She has one grandchild, Ryland, who is the sparkle in her eye.  Mrs. Stephens attends Greater Triumph Missionary Baptist Church, in which she works on the culinary committee and with the children’s ministry.  Mrs. Stephens loves reading, taking long walks, traveling, antiquing, classic cars, and going to cruise-ins with her husband.

Mrs. Stephens favorite quote or scripture is, “For we walk by faith not by sight.”  Mrs. Stephens will be retiring at the end of this school year.  Her words of wisdom to her successor is to “Treat everyday as a new day and embrace each challenge that may arise.”

We are so fortunate that Mrs. Stephens is forever a part of our Wildcat family!
