Employee of the Week: Amanda Rising

Mrs. Amanda Rising has been a librarian for four years and was previously a teacher for 15 years. Her favorite part of being a school librarian is helping students discover books that they truly love and connect with on a personal level. Mrs. Rising and her husband, Jamie, have been married for 18 years, and have a 14-year-old daughter, Ashlyn. Ashlyn has been in several community and school productions, and Mrs. Rising says, "We are her biggest fans." She and her family love traveling together as a family, especially to Walt Disney World in Florida. Mrs. Rising is a huge Disney fan and she hopes to visit all of the Disney parks one day. When she is not in the Dan River Middle School (DRMS) Library, Mrs. Rising can be found reading with a cup of coffee on her screen porch, singing at church, scrapbooking with her mom and sister, or working in her church library.
