Employee of the Week: Darrell Wilkerson

The Information Technology Department is proud to recognize Mr. Darrell Wilkerson as Pittsylvania County School’s Employee of the Week! Darrell has faithfully served Pittsylvania County Schools for 40 years first in the division’s A/V department, and then transitioning over to the Information Technology department. During his time in the IT Department, Mr. Wilkerson served as a technician before moving into the Network Manager position that he still holds today. Mr. Wilkerson has been instrumental in building and maintaining the division’s IT infrastructure and is an integral part of ensuring the safety and security of the school system’s network. He works all hours to ensure our students and staff have access to a stable and secure network at all times.
Darrell was born and raised in Danville, VA, and is a graduate of Dan River High School and Danville Community College. He has been married to his wife, Teresa, for 35 years and together they have two daughters, Megan and her husband Lane, and Emily. He is the proud Papa to two grandchildren, Isaac and Amelia, both of whom are the apple of his eye.
In his spare time, Darrell enjoys fishing, watching racing, taking family trips to the beach, and spending time with his grandchildren. Darrell also loves being outside and mowing his lawn, and the lawns of his elderly or disabled neighbors.
Darrell Wilkerson is not only an asset to the Information Technology Department, but the school division as a whole. He is hard-working, conscientious, and dedicated, and will truly be missed when he retires from Pittsylvania County Schools at the end of June. He has left an indelible mark on our school division and we are so thankful for his dedication and service to the students and staff. Thank you Darrell for everything you have done for Pittsylvania County Schools and the Information Technology Department, you are an essential part of our school division.
