Employee of the Week: Donald Yard

Chatham Middle School is excited to announce Donald Yard as our Employee of the Week. Mr. Yard began his career as a school counselor at Chatham High School in 1996 after earning his Bachelor’s degree from Grove City College and Master’s in counseling from Edinboro University of PA. Mr. Yard moved to Pittsylvania County 28 years ago to escape the lake-effect snows of Northwest Pennsylvania. During his time as a school counselor at Chatham High, Mr. Yard also coached baseball and golf. Eventually, he transitioned to Chatham Middle School, where he's worked for the past 12 years and relished the opportunity to help students succeed. Mr. Yard has been fortunate to work with a lot of great educators over the years, but the energy and excitement that the students bring to school each day is what motivates him the most.
In his free time, Mr. Yard enjoys exercising, woodworking, gardening, reading, playing golf, skiing, and following sports – especially baseball, tennis, and football. He also loves to visit historical sites and take advantage of any opportunity he can get to travel and visit new places.
We are blessed and grateful to have Mr. Yard as our beloved school counselor at Chatham Middle School.
